Notes:

Part II is concerned with the compulsory admission of non-offending patients with a mental disorder to hospitals or guardianship for medical reasons, and covers Sections 2-34 of the Mental Health Act 1983.

Part III is concerned with patients with a mental disorder who are involved in criminal proceedings or under sentence and covers Sections 35-55 of the Mental Health Act 1983. "Place of Safety" orders admitting patients under Sections 135 and 136 of the Mental Health Act 1983 should be included with admissions under Part II for these purposes.
