DSCN 14/04 (W)	Childhood Immunisation Data Collected through the COVER

The COVER return (Cover of Vaccination Evaluated Rapidly) provides information on childhood immunisations to support performance and benchmark indicators.

The COVER scheme has been running in England and Wales since 1987. The return follows trends in immunisation uptake in Wales. The report is made available via the NPHS web site and is forwarded to the Health Protection Agency for UK comparisons.

The return is produced on a quarterly and annual basis from figures extracted from National Community Child Health Database (NCCHD).

The following immunisations are counted:-

DIPHTHERIA

DIPHTHERIA (BOOSTER)

PERTUSSIS

PERTUSSIS (BOOSTER)

TETANUS

TETANUS (BOOSTER)

POLIO

POLIO (BOOSTER)

HIB (Haemophillus Influenzae group B)

MenC (Group C meningococcal disease)

PCV (Pneumococcal Conjugate Vaccine)

PCV (BOOSTER)

MMR (1 dose)

MMR (2 doses)

BCG
