Data Standards: The implementation of new codes for Source of Admission and Discharge Destination to indicate admissions from and discharges to hospital providers in the same Trust. In line with the new definitions for Provider (Trust) Spell, Hospital Site Spell and Discharge

 

 

An organisation acting as a direct provider of health care services. A health care provider is a legal entity, or sub-set of a legal entity, which may contract for the provision of health care; it may operate on one or more sites within and outside hospitals.

Examples of Health Care providers include the following types of organisations:

GP practice

b)

Local Health Board

c)

Trust

d)

Registered non-NHS provider

e)

Unregistered non-NHS provider

f)

Primary Care Trust

g)

Department of Health

h)

Non-NHS Commissioner
