The time a patient using a bed stays on one hospital on site during a hospital provider spell.
Notes:
1. If admission is to a hospital on site this will start the first hospital stay within a hospital provider spell.
2. Time spent as a lodged patient before transfer to a ward is included in the hospital stay.
3. Discharge will end the last hospital stay within the hospital provider spell.
4. In some circumstances, a patient may take home leave which does not interrupt the hospital stay.
