A patient for whom arrangements were made; either for admission or for attendance at a clinic or ward by sending a letter containing specific day and time for the appointment, and who failed to attend and failed to give warning to the hospital in advance.
Does not include those whose arrangements were cancelled or postponed by the health care provider or patients admitted as emergencies for the condition for which an admission had been arranged.
Failed to give advance warning - no warning given before the day of the appointment
NB: A patient who attends a clinic but does not wait to see the consultant should be counted as a non-attendee who has failed to give warning.
