The unit value represents the average number of units (productive minutes) of technical, clerical and aide time, required to perform the activities required to complete a defined procedure once. The unit values are those listed in the Welcan Workload Measurement System - Schedule of Unit Values (1988-1989 edn.) It is the cumulative unit values for the period covered by the form which are shown on the pathology return. Unit values should be recorded for all work on dispatch from the laboratory department during the period covered by the return.
Total number of post mortems: include only those carried out on NHS premises, separately identifying those with histology.
NB: A post-mortem of a viable foetus should be included, but NOT the dissection of pre-viable foetus.
